Microsoft Research has posted a report about their prototype for a new, gesture-reading, mechanical keyboard. The prototype, built using the keys of an Apple wireless keyboard (really!), uses a low-resolution matrix of infrared sensors placed between the keys to detect gestures, such as swiping and pinch-to-zoom, on the keyboard in other words real world keyboards could become useful again.

it’s a prototype you wont see it in production for about 5 years and then on the consumer market maybe 6 years from now.. by which time it will be hugely updated.

Definitely waiting for this beauty:)

The destiny of the keyboards I use is limited to few months of existence, then they meet the garbage bin. Some don`t resist to daily shocks, some bore me soon enough to wish for something new
