How do I set a custom notification sound on WhatsApp?

 

When we get a WhatsApp message, it becomes hard to know who has messaged you without looking at your phone. You can set custom notification sounds for different WhatsApp contacts, and groups. Along with the system-wide notification settings, you can also customize notification sounds for specific WhatsApp contacts and groups using the highly customizable notification system of WhatsApp 

Unlike WhatsApp for Android, which lets you set custom ringtones for incoming WhatsApp calls from your contacts, the WhatsApp app for iOS, sadly, only allows you to use custom alert tones for messages. 

If you mute an individual or group chat on your phone, it'll also be muted on WhatsApp Web and Desktop. All other notification settings are independent of your phone and computer and don't affect one another. 

Using custom notifications is one of the several ways to personalize WhatsApp as per your needs. If you get a lot of messages on WhatsApp, and that causes you to miss important calls or messages, setting custom alert tones for important contacts is a surefire way to keep up with them and ensure you never miss push notifications from such WhatsApp contacts/groups again.
