To record the screen on your iPhone or iPad with an app sound or your voice using the built-in recorder, you should follow these steps.

Step 1 - Allow changing the microphone settings for a specific app
Step 2 - Enable Microphone Access for  specific apps
Step 3 - Add built-in screen recording feature to Control Center
Step 4 - Record the screen using built-in screen recorder with the sound

Step 1: Allow changing the microphone settings for a specific app
If you want to use the microphone with a specific app while screen recording, you should first check if it is allowed to change the microphone settings before turning on microphone access. To grant microphone access to apps, check the Screen Time settings to ensure that you are allowed to make changes to the microphone settings.

  1. To check Screen Time settings for the microphone,  go to Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Screen Time.
  3. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  4. Scroll Down and Tap Microphone.
  5. Tap Allow Changes.
  6. Turn on the permission to allow microphone changes to specific apps.
  7. Once this permission is turned on , you can go to Microphone Settings to turn on or off the microphone access to specific apps.
Step 2: Enable Microphone Access for  specific apps
As a next step, you should check if the microphone access is turned on for the specific app on your iPhone to use in screen recording.

There are multiple ways to enable or disable the microphone access. 

  1. To grant microphone access to a specific app, go to iPhone Settings. Search for the app. Tap the app. Tap the Microphone Settings to turn it on or off.
  2. You can also scroll down from the Settings screen to go to the specific app. Tap the app. Tap the Microphone Settings to turn it on or off.
  3. To enable or disable the microphone access to multiple apps at once, from the Settings screen, scroll down and tap Privacy & Security. Tap Microphone. On this screen, you can toggle the Microphone settings for each of the apps to on or off.
Step 3 - Add in-built screen recording feature to Control Center
Before starting to use the built-in recorder, you should add the screen recording option to the control center.

  1. To add the screen recording feature, go to Settings -> Control Center.
  2. Scroll down to see the option “Screen Recording”.
  3. Tap the green circle to the left of “Screen Recording”.
  4. Now, the screen recording feature is added.
  5. To use this feature, swipe down from top right to open the “Control Center”.
  6. Now, you can see the “Screen Recording” option available in the “Control Center”.
Step 4 - Record the screen using built-in screen recorder with the sound
Once the built-in recording feature is added to the Control Center, it will be available to record your screen on your iPhone or iPad. 

  1. Open Control Center on your iPhone or iPad by swiping from the top right or through assistive touch.
  2. If you want to start the record instantly, Tap the gray record button, then wait for the three-second countdown to start the recording.
  3. To view the other available recording options, press and hold the record button. You can choose where to store the recorded video once the recording is completed. If you want to capture your voice with your screen recording, turn on the Microphone.
  4. To record sounds of an app microphone should have been enabled for the specific app. By default, sounds of an app, or Siri responses will be recorded. 
  5. Tap “Start Recording”. After the three-second countdown, recording will start. Exit Control Center and go to the screen that you want to record.
  6. To stop recording, open the Control Center, then tap the red Record button. Or tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap Stop.
  7. Go to the Photos app and select your screen recording to view, edit or use for any purpose.
