King Gopinath built the temple which was estimated to be more then 500 years old. The king dreamt the idol of Goddess Kanak Durga, and built the temple of the goddess. As the name suggests Kanak, the idol, was completely made of Gold and is 2 feet in hight. Later the gold idol got stolen. Present Goddesses is made of Ashtadhatu (is an alloy of 8 metals - gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, tin, iron, and mercury)
