Kashmir- The Beauty of Hills

Kashmir is a region in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. It is bounded by Pakistan to the west, Afghanistan to the northwest, China to the northeast, and the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the south.

Jammu and Kashmir was a princely state during the British Raj, and it became a disputed territory between India and Pakistan after India's independence in 1947. A UN-mandated ceasefire line divided the territory into two parts: the northern and western regions administered by Pakistan and the southern and eastern regions administered by India.

The region has been a source of conflict between India and Pakistan for decades, with both countries claiming it in its entirety. In August 2019, the Indian government revoked the special autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been granted under the Indian Constitution's Article 370. The move was controversial and sparked protests and a crackdown by Indian security forces.
