The typical free-range chicken found in Kenyan settlements is called kenyeji or indigenous chicken. They lay eggs like other layers but there eggs are said to be slightly more nutritious than the hybrid ones and the eggs are mostly white in color.

They sit on the eggs after going broody and laying a modest number of them—say15 to 20—before caring for the chicks for about 1.5 months then
 they begin to lay again.

Photographed is a kienyeji chicken egg.
