Today we will continue our journey through Vatican Museum. Our first destination was the Flamintino Hall with beautifully carved ceilings and walls. The gallery of maps is located on the west side of the Belvedere Courtyard in the Vatican Museum. The gallery was commissioned in 1580 by Pope Gregory thirteen as part of other artistic works commissioned by the Pope to decorate the Vatican. It took Denti three years from 1580 to 1583 to complete the 40 panels of the 120-meter-long gallery. The decorations on the vaulted ceiling are the work of a group of Mannerist artists including Ceaser Nebbia and Jirolamo Meuziano.
