An application resident on any Android Smartphone is absolutely dependent on the time date and hour of the phone. The applications gets this information from a string <TIMEFRAME><DATE> within the apps source which by default must check from the source. Correct the time and time zone on your phone and this will correct the time on your whatsapp application.
While you're at it, make sure your whatsapp is updated to the latest version in Google Play.
