A species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family known as Tithonia diversifolia is often referred to as the tree marigold, Mexican tournesol, Japanese sunflower, or Nitobe chrysanthemum. Despite being an imported plant, it is native to Mexico and Central America but has a practically pantropical distribution.
