Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake located in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is situated at an altitude of about 3,753 meters (12,313 feet) above sea level and is approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) away from the capital city of Gangtok.

The name "Tsomgo" translates to "source of water" in the local Bhutia language. The lake is considered sacred by the local Sikkimese people and is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Tsomgo Lake is known for its picturesque beauty, surrounded by rugged mountains and alpine forests. The lake itself is a glacial meltwater lake, and its water comes from the melting snow of the mountains. Due to its high altitude, the lake remains frozen during the winter months from December to February.

Visitors to Tsomgo Lake can enjoy activities like boating on the lake, horse riding, and taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The area around the lake is rich in biodiversity and home to several species of flora and fauna.

To visit Tsomgo Lake, foreign tourists require a special permit issued by the Sikkim government, and it is advisable to check the current travel regulations before planning a trip. The lake is accessible by road, and there are regular bus and taxi services from Gangtok. It is also a popular stopover for travelers heading to the Nathu La Pass, which is a mountain pass on the India-China border.

It is worth noting that my knowledge cutoff is in September 2021, so there may have been some developments or changes regarding Tsomgo Lake since then. It's always a good idea to check for the latest information before planning a visit.
