Uttarkashi, situated on the banks of river Bhagirathi at an altitude of 1158 metres above sea level, is 37 kilometers from Chinyalisaur. It is located by the confluence of two rivers Varuna and Asi. The city centre houses a temple dedicated to lord Shiva and is known as Kashi Viswanath temple.
