I would like to know how many people buy their phones outright Vs going on a plan? I have always had a plan, but have always thought it would be cheaper to own the phone and use a prepaid plan. Doing the sums (using the iPhone 6 as a comparison ) it seems to be cheaper to get the phone on a plan. Does anybody know if it’s cheaper to get iPhone 6 from a dealer or straight from the apple store? Does it carry the same warranty? They are priced at $999 from Apple store which is a bit pricey. Any advice would be appreciated.

I can give you my own example, while I want to buy a new smartphone wiht an affordable price

I check all the plans and offers available, since the official release

After I have done my calculations, I start calling to that provider`s call center and try to obtain a discount, based on my longterm subscription or as a potential customer willing to sign for a subscription

You won`t believe it, it works, but you won`t receive the answer on the phone, somebody will call you few days laterLaugh

Well I always prefer to get smartphones at outright price as it will help to get phone at cheaper price as plans can be buy separately and may reduce some money as in New Zealand, we have to contract at least 24 months so we actually pay more money for phone as we hardly use minutes and data.
