I would recommend PennyTel. They are a VOIP provider, but you can sign up with them online and they are really cheap and you can call all over the world and also send sms messages. I’ve been using them for over 5 years now. I’m on a Freedom Plan for $5 a month. You can also download their softphone software and use it to make calls from your computer or from your mobile phone (provided you have 3G network on your phone).

in singapore I used Singtel – never an issue with them, in Australia I was using CrazyJohn’s (melbourne) as it was so damn cheap, in New Zealand I was on Telecom and in Philippines I’ve used Smart and Globe – Globe seem to have better coverage but smart better big picture plan imho.
While in the UK I used either Virgin for prepay but I always had a softspot for Vodafone, pay more but better reception and coverage.
http://www.joolo.net - better than this hole for mobile devices.

In the USA a really popular company is AT&T but i have never had good service with them and if i have to call a technician they are so rude! one time I was late paying my bill and they disconnected my service and sent me to collections — after missing only ONE payment!!! I have recently switched to Verizon and i get better reception all over. their customer service isn’t great, but anything is better than AT&T!

My BFF just went to get her DD from school and when she got home her AT&T internet had been shut off! She called them and they said, well your check for $173 was returned. she said, no!!!! She said, I paid you $200 then you charged me $173 after that and my bank fixed it so I don’t owe anything since you still have that $200. They said she now has a zero balance, but doesn’t know why the extra $173 extra in the first place or why her internet still isn’t working!

I am so tired of fighting with Time Warner for the past 2 months just to find out that their salesman lied to us Now must give up some of our services to pay what we were promised. We already get Cable with 1 HBO in our rent. Needed to change our internet and the guy came to the door and fixed us up, NOT! the joke was on us! Nothing has gone as promised from day one. 2 service calls and 10 phone calls to get it right. Then the bill was way more so I called back. After 2 escalations was told to wait for 2 weeks. When I called back then was told had never been sent and now wait another 2 weeks. A new bill with wrong amount again and the credit I was supposed to get not on the bill. They settled it today but not in my favor even though I had paper work to prove what I was promised. Just tired of the hours I have wasted. i will be cancelling my service with them on Feb 17 when this payment ends. As a lifetime customer service expert, I was dismayed. No wonder they are known for terrible customer service!

I use Touch Mobile, powered by Globe Telecom. Well, for me this is the best service provider in the Philippines because of their free facebook, other telecom have also give free facebook for their user to compete with Globe. Globe monopolized schools for giving discounts for students which I think helped a lot to grow their number of users.

different users have different takes on what they consider is the best provider. though alot of people values free facebook access, others like the unlimited call and sms too that is very popular and cheap in the Philippines. As low as 20pesos (less than 50cents) can give you unlimited sms and at least an hour of free call (though it should be same network like globe-to-globe or smart-to-smart)

While travelling in Europe, Orange and Vodafone, in US I used Verizon and in my short travel through Asia, Starhub.
I`m planning to travel this summer to Brazil, for the moment I have no idea what to choose, the internet browsing doesn`t help me that much, but probably I will obtain information on this forum

I am in the USA and I have Sprint. I think they really are the best because of their plans. Service is service and every carrier has almost the same level of customer service and wireless service which is why I go with the carrier that has the best plan and the most options. For me, that is Sprint.

If comforts you, it happened the same with me, a humble European user of a different carrier. I was sick and completely forgot about the bill and there was the surprised: disconnected!

I’m originally from the UK, and when I was there, I was on an 02 Sim only deal. I was paying 10GBP a month for my free minutes and texts. It was a while ago, before smart phones became the norm, and so I never had any data allowance on the Sim, but it was perfect for calling and sending text messages! I never went over my limit, and don’t recall receiving spam texts either.

you are one of few happy customers with his/her providers:)
I wasn`t very satisfied when the smartphones became the absolute name on the market, but I guess I got used to them. Now, I can`t live without checking my Facebook profile and my emails
