A pedometer app will count your steps. We are living increasingly sedentary lifestyles and we need to walk more, humans are designed to walk long distances. We should aim to walk 10,000 steps per day and a pedometer app makes counting your steps easy.
Does it work when we turn our phones off ?

I didn’t have good luck with two of the apps I downloaded. Mostly because I keep my GPS turned off on the phone. Both of these apps were supposed to work with GPS turned off though. I have a manual pedometer, and I know, between it and driving it once, that my work is 1.2 miles away from me. I walk it, round trip, every day, and came up with varying distances each day with the app. I’m sure with GPS turned on it’s different, but they just won’t work with me.
