There’s a lot of barcode scanners out there for products such as Quickscan, ShopSavvy, etc. They allow people to scan the barcode on products and it returns a price back to them. I’ve used it several times myself and found better deals on products online versus a retail store without having to do a manual search.

Has anyone else used this type of app before? Which have you used?

I have a barcode scanner app installed in my phone. It’s simply called Barcode Scanner by ZXing Team. I’ve used it a couple of times only I think. It’s fine but I don’t really see the point of using them coz it only redirects you to the barcode’s website. I’d rather just go directly to the website.

Well the nice thing about ShopSavvy or Quickscan is that it gives you a list of vendors that you can buy the product from, such as Amazon. It also tells you the prices of that item.

Admittedly, for something like food, obviously you probably wouldn’t bother to use them, but if I saw a digital camera that I liked, I would definitely use one to try and find a better deal.
