Huawei Ascend Mate2 the next evolution of the Mate on paper doesnt read like much announced at CES the device is very much the same form factor as the original Ascend Mate

the Huawei Ascend Mate2 is slightly larger than the leader in this area the Note 3 and in many respects is like it’s younger brother the Mate with that slippery plastic back that collects fingerprints for fun, something that Samsung made popular and ditched just as others we’re crossing over to make use of it.

The Mate comes with a 6.1 inch screen which is huge however it’s a 720p eHD (enhanced High Definition) screen so for those with eyes that are able to make out pixels on a small 720p screen this is not the device for you.

it comes with a 1.6 ghz processor running the Snapdragon 600 (i assume dual-core but unsure will verify) and 2GB of ram. No physical home button on the front and has basic multi window support via floating windows much like the LG G2 has.

Overall it’s not a superbeast but for owners of the original Mate it’s worthwhile update

So while chasing down the battery size of this device I was stunned to read it has a feature called reverse charging .. reverse charging in basic terms allows a host device to charge another device i.e the Mate2 is capable of charging your other devices or friends devices by simply plugging them in – the obvious question being well how much use is this wont it just kill be Mate2’s battery .. well yes but given the Mate2 comes with a HUGE 4500 mHz battery it shouldnt be an issue.

Imagine the scenario now your wife’s little iPhone dies you pull out your huge Mate2 hook up the two devices via the Mate2’s microUSB port and attach the lightening adapter and hey presto the iPhone is charging your phone still has heaps of juice she can go back to Candy Crush while you go back to watching the game.. bliss
