I live in bluefield West Virginia and currently have straight talk. Although their coverage is good for this mountain area, I am not satisfied with their data. At 5g they cap my data and slow it down significantly. For $45 a month they aren't really cheaper than other carriers. Their customer service is average. I would definitely change plans if I took the time to research a better carrier.

I have Sprint and love my unlimited text and data. But when i drive through my city Memphis(TN) and drive past the same place my data must freeze because my my musics starts buffering and theres multiple places around the city this happens. Sprints customer support is awful and is always a struggle to deal with. And to have unlimited data and talk and text it comes at a hefty price. Sprint has the most customers so I believe they dont care about a good service or customer support they only care about PROFITS.

i really like tmobile because it is very affordable and i love the family plan. i rarely ever get dropped calls on my note 5 phone and  the 4g on the phone is really fast as well. customer support is not that great for tmobile because of their warranty rules. but overall its a pretty decent phone company.

Sprint, New York, NY

I like Sprint the cost is a little high for unlimited text/calls and data at a little over $60.00 but it's worth it.  I've had this service for over 2 years and the call quality is excellent.  The data plan is also great.  The network coverage is also excellent.  Whenever, I call their customer service department they are very helpful.  I am satisfied with my phone carrier.  I had T-mobile previously and did have a good experience.

I live in Sacramento, CA. My cell phone provider is AT&T Prepaid. I have no problem getting service. However they have limited data and the data is slow. I pay $45 a month and the customer service is great. However I would like to see them be able to bill on the same day of each month.  Sometimes I may have to reduce to a $2.50 per day plan for a couple days because I need to wait till payday.  I have been with them for 3 years.

I'm with Verizon Wireless in Salem, Oregon. Their coverage reaches basically everywhere. However if you are out in the country data is very slow as you can only get 1X. If you have LTE connection, VOLTE gives super clear and high quality voice calls. We have the 12GB shared plan for 4 people at a cost of ~$271 per month. This includes everything including payments for 4 smartphones. Any unused data rolls over to the next month which is nice. Our plan comes with safety mode which allows you to still use data (slowed to 128kb/s) without overages after you use your 4GLTE data. Depending where you are data speeds can be very fast or slow. At home I can easily get 120mb/s down and 40mb/s up. On the interstate I usually get 5-20mb/s down. Their customer service cant really do much. I keep having issues with the caller ID showing up as my name when calling other people. When I call CS to fix this issue, they fix it but it just happens again after a little while. One supervisor even promised to call back to tell me what I can do but NOPE no call. We originally had AT&T which basically had the same coverage (but slower speeds). By the end of next year we will probably switch back to AT&T or try T-Mobile

Garden Grove, California. T-mobile.
- Cost of the plan: Very affordable
- Network coverage : Not good
- Data limit: depends on package but 2Gb unlimited data for $20/month or unlimited data for $40/month
- Data speed: very fast
- Customer service: very helpful
- Compare to other cell phone carriers in your region: network coverage is not as good as Verizon or At&T. Well you get what you pay for.

I'm from Dayton, OH and I have Verizon. My name is John by the way. I have used Verizon for a number years and I really like the coverage they offer in the US. However, it is pretty expensive compared to other networks around me. Anyways, great article!

I use Verizon and the thing is that there aren't many different options for phones because it uses CDMA. It has great coverage but there is little choice on which phones you have the ability to buy.

I am located in very rural Ohio, approx 20 miles north east of Steubenville. I was a Verizon user for many years and I accidentally ended up with a T-Mobile based phone. It was the best mistake I ever made. I love my T-mobile based service. I have full bars at my rural home. Calls are clear and I have never dropped a call in 6 months of service, The data is blazing fast. I currently have my laptop tethered to my phone and its better than any DSL or broadband I have ever used. I get a signal almost anywhere in rural areas - Verizon service was (and often still is) thought to be the best for this area. But that is absolutely wrong. I currently pay a flat rate of $60 /mo for Metro PCS serive. No tax or fees. and I get unlimited data, talk and text. The unlimited data can potentially be de-prioritized, which isn't throttled - but slowed slightly if you use more than 32GB a month and depending on the traffic on the tower.. I used over 300GB last month and my phone never slowed at all. I couldn't be happier with my service and I highly recommend T-Mobile/Metro PCS to anyone still who still thinks Verizon is the best. Your mind will be blown! The only thing I don't like is my phone. It is lower end and doesn't have a good enough processor or enough RAM to play any graphic intense games - mainly Minecraft. But the phone was free and I'm 36 so I probably shouldn't complain lol.

I really like AT&T, Iive in Ridgecrest, CA, and the service here, especially since live in the desert area. I have the prepaid plan on AT&T, so I am only paying $60 a month, and I still get regular coverage as if I am on the regular post paid account. The call quality is great, its always crisp clear voice, and never lost a call once. I used to have T-Mobile, but their service was not as good as AT&Ts, and there is not much coverage out here for any other carriers. I get 4G lte, and super fast speeds with my S7 edge. AT&T customer service is really good about helping you with any problems you are having, and have always received the help I would ask for.

I used Sprint for around 4 years before I switched to Verizon. I liked the cheap unlimited data plan from Sprint but they got terrible coverage in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania where I live. On top of that, the network speed wasn't great but it was a good price and still got a connection in most places. The customer service was not terrible but the call quality and data speed for Verizon was far superior. As soon as I switched, the quality of my network improved even though the value wasn't as good. But it was worth it! I would recommend Verizon to my friends.
