It's the lightning bolt-shaped icon in the top-right side of the Facebook page. Doing so will prompt a drop-down menu with your recent messages listed.

Recently facebook has updated its version and messages can be seen only on messenger app. So make sure you have installed messenger in your phone.

Now open the facebook app and at top right corner you can see a messenger icon.

When you click on it, you can see the inbox and messages.
