GPS (Global Positioning System) is a device that communicate with 4 or more satellites to determine its exact location coordinates anywhere on earth, it is not influenced with the bad weather as long as it has a clear line of sight to the satellites.
A-GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) is only different from GPS when it comes to getting the information from the satellites by using network resources (assistant servers).
